I promised you my posts would never be boring.
A few months ago I read about a retail concept, the Late Night Chameleon Cafe, in Dalston. Dalston? Where the heck is Dalston?
If you are not one of those hip, young, trendy twenty somethings living, studying and/or working in the East End of London, your guess (as of this morning) was as good as mine. Being the adventurous, curious sort, I set out in an attempt to find 18 Shacklewell Lane in the unfamiliar postal code of E8 2EZ.
Frustration, I admit did set in. Just as I turned onto Shacklewell Lane, my phone ran out of battery. With it, disappeared the GPS app, my only link with the outside world of Hackney! I will not bore you with the details of how I found LN-CC. Luckily, one of those hip, young, trendy twenty somethings pointed me in the right direction.
LN-CC is NOT easy to find (neither is parking by the way). Around the side of a building, down a small incline is a rather ominous looking black door. I rang and was buzzed in…
The stairwell is painted entirely in black, with yet another door at the foot of the stairs. I was let in by a lovely young woman. To my complete and utter surprise I walked into this amazing space (see below).

The shoe area felt like I had entered a sort of dove grey cocoon. I was half expecting Austin Powers to jump out and ask me if I liked the shoes, “baby”. The walls were covered in neoprene, the floor in thick, plush pile carpeting.
